Looking back on 2012, Tuckerton Seaport & Baymen’s Museum remembers the aftermath of Superstorm Sandy as a time when the community pulled together despite tremendous obstacles. In South Jersey, adversity brought out the best in people. Following the storm, the Seaport opened its doors for a Community Gathering on the Saturday after Thanksgiving, bringing local families in need together with families who wanted to give. Last year we continued this new tradition and this year we plan to do the same. In 2013, the Seaport served 702 guests. This year many of these local families are still in need and even more families are looking for ways to give back.
Tuckerton Seaport in partnership with The Jetty Rock Foundation, Ocean Tents, Real Mom Media, Southern Ocean County Chamber of Commerce, St. Hubert’s Animal Welfare Center and WJRZ 100.1 invites all local families, regardless of need, to come together on Thanksgiving Weekend to enjoy a meal together and give thanks. This community meal will be hosted on the Seaport’s grounds under a huge heated tent. We will have entertainment and plenty of family activities, including make-and-take crafts perfect for the holidays. This community event and activities will be offered at no cost. Help us bring the Southern Ocean County community back together and let those in need know that we are all in the rebuilding effort together.
