It’s that time of year again! The 35th Annual Ocean County Decoy & Gunning Show will take place on September 23rd & 24th, here in Tuckerton. In addition to the happenings at Tip Seaman County Park, the Tuckerton Seaport and Baymen’s Museum has lots of activities and programs to keep the whole family busy! Free admission to the Seaport will include a Family Fun Area with a face painter (noon-4 pm), giant inflatables, and kid crafts. Also, don’t miss the Delmarva Dock Dog competition (as seen on ESPN), taking place in the Seaport parking lot.
In addition to the family activities and dock dogs, there are two great new exhibits to view at the Seaport. The Collector’s Collection: Jim & Deb Allen will host an opening reception in the Hunting Shanty, with free decoy appraisals by Jim Allen from 10am-4pm both days of the event. Also, Pineshores Art Association unveils their new seasonal exhibit on the bottom level of the Visitor’s Center. As if that weren’t enough, there will be live carving demonstrations by Barb and Ray Nyman in Jay Parker’s Carving Shed and a Blacksmith on site all day on September 23rd. All this, and access to the rest of the Seaport’s historic spaces and lighthouse observation deck.
So, stop by the Union Market & Gallery for that early morning coffee and snack and take in all the Seaport and the Decoy and Gunning show have to offer. See you there!
