Al Riehl, Decorative Carver
Al Riehl, from Cape May County, NJ has been carving his award winning song birds for over seventeen years. Al Riehl first began carving to pass the time after an accident left him with a broken ankle. He had early carving experience as a youth, but his interest was renewed after attending a decoy show in Cape May. Al Riehl took classes, read books and developed his technique through years of practice. Inspired by the bird feeder at his shop, Al Riehl’s decorative work features delicately carved birds and imaginative tableau. Al Riehl is a regular demonstrator at the Tuckerton Seaport. In addition to his song birds, Al Riehl carves shore birds, game birds and birds of prey.
