The Pirates of Chestnut Neck
Relive the battle between the South Jersey pirates against the British forces trying to eliminate the nuisance of Continental forces given ‘Letters of Marque by the young Continental Congress to seize British ships for our Revolutionary War effort. This will be a project I’ll be doing with my marine archeology class in Spring at Stockton, using sophisticated sonar to map the wrecks in the Mullica River, one of which is listed as one of the four on the National Register of Historic Shipwrecks.
