Group Tour Information
Tuckerton Seaport is an enjoyable day trip for groups of all sizes. Bring your extended family for an event or stop by on your way to Atlantic City. Whether you choose a guided ‘Back Bay' tour package or explore the site at your leisure with a self-guided tour, you too will Catch the Spirit of the Bay!

Available for groups of 15 or more
Adults: $6
Seniors 62 and older: $5
Children 6 to 12: $3
Children 5 and under: Free
Back-Bay Tours are an additional $5 per person. Art fees may apply.

Guided General Walking Tour
Seaport Sampler
Experience the Seaport from the people that know it best come face to face with history and see some of the folk artists practicing their trades here at the seaport. Along the Seaport Sampler Tour you will get a chance to see an overview of the Seaport, visit the Tucker’s Island Lighthouse, see our boat builders in action, check out what the decoy carvers are making, and so much more. Be sure to save some time for JCNERR’s ‘Life on the Edge’ an overview of coastal habitats to remind guests that the culture of the baymen would have been impossible if not for the resources of the area.

‘Back Bay’ Tour Packages available
NJ’s Colonial Coast
Explore maritime colonial history of NJ as it leads up to the Revolutionary War and Patriot Pirates. Guests will learn about NJ’s early explorers, the coastal waterways, the maritime forest and other resources available to colonial settlers, colonial industries of the coast and pinelands and early NJ shipbuilding. Guests will get the opportunity to ‘apprentice’ as a ship caulker and try their hand on the Seaport’s caulking board. Optional hands-on activities to extend the program include a focus on colonial clothing, where you get to card and spin wool, and try on replica colonial clothes.
Seasons of the Bay, Baymen and Bay Communities
Experience the early 20th century culture of Baymen communities. Learn about the seasonal occupations of baymen families, the natural resources of the
Barnegat Bay and an overview of late 19th and early 20th century coastal NJ history. Guests will get to examine samples of salt hay, sphagnum moss and other gathered resources as well as tools including decoys and duck calls.

Horseshoe Crabs: Tales on Tenacity
Guests will gain a greater sense of understanding and appreciation of these ancient mariners. Learn about the cultural and natural history of horseshoe crabs including the connections between horseshoe crabs, people, shorebirds and the estuary. In season, guests may have the opportunity to handle live animals.
Seining and Marsh Exploration
Discover the wonders of the bay hands-on. Learn about seining, an ancient technique for catching baitfish that is still in use today. Guests will travel off-site to learn this technique and try their hand at catching a variety of marine life. While taking turns seining, guests can explore the marsh with field guides. A discussion of aquatic plants and local marine life species is part this hands on activity. Be advised that getting wet is possible, and a change of clothes is suggested.

Self-Guided Walking Tour
Enjoy our buildings, demonstrators, and exhibits on your own schedule, and at your own speed. A map of the site and information about all our buildings is provided. (Self Guided Tours are not available for school groups)
